Bayonetta 2 will allow local multiplayer between two Nintendo Switch devices

February will witness the release of Bayonetta 2, a hack and slash adventure game which was developed by PlatinumGames on the Nintendo Switch. The game, which was originally released by Nintendo for their WiiU in 2014, will see fresh life breathed into it as Nintendo prepares to push the Nintendo Switch and the portable gaming environment further.

Nintendo Switch was released less than one year ago, on the 3rd of March 2017. The platform was highly anticipated and Nintendo has sold more than 10 million units of the Switch as of December 12th 2017. This sudden emerging trend in the portable gaming platform has motivated Nintendo to keep things fresh by offering new games and packages for the Switch.

Bayonetta’s port to the Switch makes sense considering the game was one of the best recieved game on the Wii U platform and recieved critical acclaim for it’s linear storyline and combat mechanisms.

Besides the games will release right before the third instalment of the Bayonetta series which, unsurprisingly, will be exclusive to the Switch.

Bayonetta 2 on the Nintendo Switch will be compatible with the company’s Amiibo figures. These figures will be sold with and for the game and scanning these figures will allow players to access exclusive in game accessories like costumes, special weapons etc. The game will also have support for local multiplayer gaming which Nintendo is calling the Tag Climax multiplayer mode. This mode existed in the original Wii U version of the game but it was limited to online play. But this time around players will be able to play with each other locally provided both players have the Switch and their own copy of the game.

Nintendo will be releasing both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 together on the 16th of February 2018. Bayonetta 3 will hit the Switch sometime later this year and the company shared a teaser for the title which can be seen below.
