Developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan and Project Siren (which is also owned by Sony Corporation) and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Gravity Rush 2 is a fantasy adventure title that serves as a direct sequel to 2008’s Gravity Rush. While the original Gravity Rush was released as a PlayStation Vita exclusive and to this day is considered to be one of the best games that one can play on a handheld portable console, Gravity Rush 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 in the month of January 2017. The release dates varied with regions.
As was the case with the original title Gravity Rush 2 follows Kat, the protagonist who in the prequel wakes up with no recollection of her past and discovers she has the ability of alternating the effects of Gravity thanks to her cat companion, Dusty. The players will be given three gravity options, Lunar, Jupiter and the one that existed in the original game. Each of these playstyles changes the way in which Kat interacts with the environment around her.
The game improves upon the already great “Gravity Shifter” mechanisms. Because she is a Gravity Shifter, she can essentially make things go in any direction. This means she can fly, (even though she is technically just falling upwards), affect the things that are around her, hell she can even make things orbit around her and throw them in all directions.
The game follows a pretty straight story line in which Kat gets sucked in a gravity vortex and must travel to new lands in order to save her friend Raven and the people of the District that she helped survive in the last title. However, there are certain other side missions that provide the players with a means of collecting crystals which in turn help upgrade Cat’s abilities and powers during the game. However, the game lays emphasis on expanding the world in this game. In general, there is an increase of approximately 2.5 times in the map of this game than in the original title. There is also three times the amount of missions than its predecessor.
Gravity Rush 2 released to critical acclaim and a generally well received reviews amongst the gaming the community.
