PlayStation Entertainment announced a new mini wired gamepad for their PlayStaion 4 consoles on their blog. The gamepad will be build by Hori, a Japanese 3rd party accessory maker who have previously built various gaming accessories for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.
The gamepad has been built with younger players in mind and has a 40% smaller body than the DualShock 4 alongside a flat design. The controller provides the bare essentials of the gaming experience with the inclusion of the right and left sticks, R1/L1/R2/L2 buttons, directional buttons, and action buttons. Certain touch pad inputs can be simulated via the left or right sticks. The wired controller also has a 10 feet cable which should be more than enough for most people.
However the controller does not include some features of DualShock 4, including a touch pad, light bar, stereo headset jack, speaker, vibration, or motion sensing. The gamepad will retail for a low price of $29.99 USD (MSRP) / $39.99 CAD (MSRP) and will be available come the holiday season.
