London has fallen! This time not into the clutches of some vengeful terrorists, but into something more distressing and despicable than that. Well, no doubt authoritarian regimes pose more threat to citizens than any other thing on earth.

The game takes us on an expedition when one such authoritarian surveillance regime ruled by corrupt politicians takes over the grand city of London, and a group of revolutionary hackers comes together to fight against the oppressive regime, to work for the objective of restoring privacy and freedom.

Set in an open world depicting a fictionalized representation of London, which exhibits flawlessly, the notable landmarks, gorgeously designed environment, and realistically appealing boroughs. This action-adventure RPG developed by Ubisoft will be the third installment in the Watch Dogs series.

Gameplay

The game’s setting will take place in a city of London where a privately-owned law enforcement agency has all the controls of surveillance and thus personal liberties are vastly limited, citizens are under a constant vigil of this agency with their activities monitored closely everywhere. The game this time is set to introduce different playable protagonists, unlike its previous versions which offered a linear story based on a single central character.

Legion will have the facility to recruit multiple characters with different conduits depicted in the game, which can be taken on by varied recruitment missions spread throughout the game. Each player recruited thus has his own life’s story, his own set of skills and his own set abilities which can be exploited throughout selectively specified missions for each character.

Characters having their own lives and personal settings can also be customized with their clothing options, choice of weapons and life choices they would accustom to move on. Having a vast open-world environment with a map helping the player to explore, this action-adventure game will have the player navigating the city through on foot or with vehicles, fast traveling is also available which takes the player through the city’s underground stations. Watch Dogs Legion introduces permadeath, which basically happens when a player recruited goes on a premediated mission and poses a threat from the police, the player is then offered with the choice of his arrest which then makes itself in a mission of rescue.

Alternatively, it also offers the recruit to fight back which can also lead his death. The feature closely offers a link between all characters which makes the game more connected and story-driven.

The cool part about this game is that it doesn’t focus on a single protagonist, but gives the player an opportunity to explore through the lives of 20 differently set roaster of players, which can even lead for the player to interact with the entire population of London. This can go on making the game more dazzling where we could see a grandma skilfully performing melees and celebrities helping the hacker group DedSec in their objectives.

Except with the roaster of characters, this game is also coming with the characters featured in the previous versions of Watch Dogs, so that could even be exciting for the old Watch Dogs Maniacs.

Trailer

The action-packed trailer, with its suspense creating elements not only have taken the gaming community with the storm, but also has revealed various components which could look quite stylish when played in the game. We found a little more about the NPCs which inhibit the world of the Legion, these could be virtual computers programmed to work as humans, who have special abilities to perform skills and get the players out of the jail.

On top of that these NCPs could be customized desirably by the player with their personalized clothes, masks and even could be made up into various costumes like that of police or maybe a bartender. We also saw the game’s beautifully crafted environment with its methodically made buildings, historical points of old London and also the interiors of the buildings giving a realistic feel.

That’s everything we have seen so far except for its walkthroughs giving us an idea of the game’s combat.

Weapons and skills

We have already seen the previous versions of the game lacking behind the effectiveness of its combat, with their combat remaining majorly non-lethal involving sleep darting enemies and performing stealth attacks by a paintball gun. This game is reportedly bringing combat in its gameplay though which will remain mainly non-lethal and robust.

Overall this game will take a player through a roller coaster ride of thrill, excitement, and suspense with its action-packed sequences creating an aura of another Teran Tino movie. The game offers three distinct set types of combats being enforcer, Infiltrator or hacker assigned to each player recruited.

Enforcers will equip heavy weapons which can range from assault rifles also equipped with sticky mine implantation skills. Infiltrators, on the other hand, are expert sneakers, armed with technologically advanced augmented devices, which could do the work of cloaking players from visibility to knocking off enemies silently.

Hackers finally are desk sitting witty individuals equipped with a vast knowledge of computers and having access to the spider bots, which might be operated remotely for tasks like gaining access to doors, hijacking military drones or placing proximity mines.

Watch Dogs Legion originally revealed its first looks in 2019 on twitter, even before its announcement at E3 2019. The game is being developed by its parent industries Ubisoft with its sister company Ubisoft Toronto involved which is doing the majority of the work, also Ubisoft’s subsidiaries like Ubisoft Paris, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Bucharest, and Ubisoft Bucharest are doing an extensive job in making of this game. The game originally announced to be released on March 6, 2020, but in October of 2019, it was announced by the company that the game would be delayed up till 2020. Now Ubisoft has revealed its final release date being April 1, 2020.

Releasing on PC, PS4 Xbox One and Google Stadia, the game is also reportedly launching on the oncoming Xbox X and PS5 too.
